Macro Recorder provides a keyboard and mouse recorder for Windows and macOS, with this companion website for downloads, purchases and support. This page explains what information these services use.

Purchases and support

When you purchase a license, we store your name, email address, order amount, payment method, provider reference, license key and payment status. Payments are handled by Stripe or PayPal; we do not receive or store your full card details. Support messages contain the name, email address and message you submit.

Recorded macros stay on your computer

The desktop apps store macros locally as readable .mrec JSON files. This website does not receive the mouse actions or keystrokes in your recordings. Macro files can contain sensitive text if you record it, so review files before sharing them and avoid recording passwords. A macro that opens an application or URL can interact with that service under your instructions.

License activation

Activation sends a device fingerprint and app/device metadata to our server. The Windows app may include detailed operating system, hardware, network and user information in its activation request. The Mac app sends a hashed device identifier and app/device metadata, with empty Windows-specific fields. The website retains the fingerprint, operating system, app version, activation result, timestamp and IP address to enforce the device allowance and help with support. It does not save the full activation payload.

Downloads, diagnostics and server logs

Download records contain the platform, IP address, browser user agent and timestamp. If an app or user submits an installation report or error log, that content is stored for troubleshooting. The server removes top-level credential fields from installation reports and redacts recognizable license-key lines in error logs; do not send unrelated personal information. Infrastructure logs may also contain IP addresses and request metadata.

Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies maintain checkout sessions, prevent cross-site request forgery and support administrator sign-in. If optional analytics is configured, it loads only after you choose to allow it. You can change that choice through Cookie preferences in the footer. Fonts, styles and standard interface scripts are served locally. Choosing PayPal or using an enabled captcha may load the relevant provider’s scripts.

Email and service providers

We use your email address to deliver purchased licenses, acknowledge support messages and respond to requests. Hosting, payment and email providers process information needed to provide those services. We do not sell your personal information or use this checkout for unsolicited marketing.

Retention and your choices

Order and license records are retained to provide lifetime licensing and maintain transaction records. Diagnostic and support records are retained as needed for support and service operation. You may request access, correction or deletion through the contact page; some transaction records may need to be retained to meet applicable obligations. No customer account is required to use the public website.

Security and policy updates

We use HTTPS, access controls and server-side payment verification to protect the service. No storage system is completely secure. Policy changes will be published here with a revised date. For privacy questions, contact support.
